Event Description: The Rimfire Match is a recreational shooting venue for rimfire handguns and rifles that is friendly to advanced beginner and intermediate level shooters. The purpose of the match is to provide a safe supervised environment to help shooters improve target acquisition and engagement while under time constraints. Stages are shot under the supervision of a Range Safety Officer.
A maximum of 10 rounds are loaded to engage the target arrays. The number of targets in each array may vary but is usually limited to 5. The participant engages each of 5 targets with one hit each and shoots a stop plate last if one is designated. A timer is used to record the overall shooting time for the target string. After reloading, the string is repeated four more times with times recorded for each string. The shooters score is the total time taken, less the slowest string, plus penalty points, if any. Metal targets are used exclusively to simplify the scoring of the match. Participants must have eye and ear protection, 500 rounds of rimfire ammo and 5 magazines or speed loaders.
