    Signups for the Ironman Trap league are now open.

    The league will start at 4 PM on January 8th and will be every Wednesday for 7 weeks, ending on February 19th.  There will be no pre-shooting for this league, makeups only.

    We shoot regardless of weather conditions, rain or shine or the blackness of night (we'll turn the lights on).

    Week 1        21yd wobble        From the house - shooting from right behind the house.

    Week 2        22yd wobble        Gun swap @24yds - Shooters move, guns don't, you'll shoot every gun on your squad.

    Week 3        23yd wobble        Off hand @20yds - you're right handed, you'll shoot left handed. You're left handed, you'll shoot right handed.

    Week 4        24yd wobble        Low hold @25yds - hold your gun at waist level, call for the target, mount and shoot.

    Week 5        25yd wobble        Long Progressive Wobble - 23 to 27 yard progressive with wobble.

    Week 6        26yd wobble        From the middle of the block wall platform - approx. 32 yards.

    Week 7        27yd wobble        From the rail - simple, we shoot from the upper rail, approx. 35 yards and 4 yards higher.

    Advanced Defensive Handgun

    Come join us for an instructor-driven clinic to develop good defensive handgun skills and be challenged by ever-changing defensive scenarios.  Members and member-accompanied guests 11 years and older are welcome to attend to learn defensive handgun fundamentals. Minors 11-15 must be accompanied by a non-shooting adult at all times while on the range unless approved by Shoot master.  We will have available instruction on handgun safety, defensive handgun practice, drawing from the holster, and rapid target engagement at distances from close contact to 45 feet. 

    If you feel intimidated please join us on the 2nd Friday of the month session where in one night you will become a confident shooter! For first-time shooters or those who have never had formal handgun training, this class teaches you the basics of grip, stance, sight alignment and trigger control.

    The second clinic of the month is held on the 4th Friday of the month. For those who have taken the Beginner Handgun class and have been approved by the Shoot master, this clinic is designed to hone your skills to become a proficient, confident shooter. The class is limited only by the skills of who shows up, and can involve shooting while moving, multiple target acquisition, one-handed malfunction clearances and low-light shooting. No beginners allowed.

    The Frontsight training methods will be used to guide you comfortably and safely through your training. If you have ever heard of Frontsight training in Nevada but could not afford to go, this clinic will help you get prepared for this great training.

    Stan Luhr, an NRA RSO, pistol instructor, and 3-time Frontsight Distinguished graduate is your Shoot master. Registration is required as there will be a limited number of openings for each clinic. Contact Stan at sluhr@ppcexpert.com for any questions.

    You can use any firearm approved for IDPA competition. Please insure you bring a holster that will securely hold your handgun and is attached at belt level, at least 100 rounds of ammunition, and a minimum of 3 magazines or 5 speed loaders. Eye protection (shooting glasses) and hearing protection, are required. Please join us at this match and be prepared to have some fun.

    The match will normally consist of 4-6 stages with two stages located on the rifle range side and two stages located in the Pistol Pit and two stages behind the pistol pit. 

    If you are shooting more than one gun (i.e. handgun and PCC or two different handguns), then register twice and add PCC or 2 after your last name on the second registration. 

    IF 50 OR MORE PEOPLE SIGN UP FOR THE MATCH, SHOOTING WILL BE LIMITED TO ONE GUN PER PERSON IN ORDER TO FINISH THE MATCH IN A TIMELY MANNER!

    The match will be limited to 60 shooters so sign up quickly as the match fills up quickly.

    The stage descriptions are posted on Practiscore so please read them and bring the appropriate amount of ammo for your shooting needs.

    • a minimum of three magazines or 5 speed loaders suitable for the handgun you will be using.

    • Magnum ammunition is NOT allowed!

    Registration for Spring Trap league is now open. Come get in on the fun.


    The Spring trap league runs every Wednesday from March 12th, 2025 through April 23rd, 2025.


    There will be pre-shooting and makeup for this league.  First league squad out at 4:00 PM.  Practice available from 3:00 PM - 3:45 PM. 

    All shooters will be handicapped and assigned a team in week two. Teams will consist of five or six members depending on entries. Monetary awards go to side pot lucky draw winner and side pot high score each week. Team award goes to top scoring team at the end of the league.

     

    Only the top four scores will be counted for team standing with 80% of the difference between the week's high scoring team and each other team's score added to the teams scores the following week.


    The following fees will be applied to this league:

    Member league $60

    Member doubles $60 (optional event)

    Non-member league $80 + $20 daily gate fee required ($140 for the 7 weeks).

    Non-Member doubles $80 (optional event) 

    Side pot for all interested participants - $20

    Lemon Grove Rod & Gun Club Women’s Shooting Clinic

    Overview:
    Join us for our Women’s Pistol, Rifle, and Shotgun Shooting Clinic! These clinics are designed as an introduction to shooting sports, providing a supportive environment for women to learn about firearms safety and handling.

    Important Information:

    • Eligibility: Open to women 16 and older. 
    • Firearms: Participants will learn with .22 caliber rifles, handguns, and 12/20-gauge pump shotguns. Larger-caliber centerfire handguns may also be available. No outside firearms are allowed.
    • Instruction: Each participant will receive personalized, one-on-one instruction from experienced, NRA Certified Instructors. Safety briefings will be conducted before the shooting begins.

    Registration Details:

    • Payment: Full payment is required upon registration. No refunds or transfers for cancellations. Only one person can register at a time; if registering for someone else, please provide their details.
    • Check-In: Arrive between 7:15 a.m. and 7:50 a.m. for check-in and safety equipment. A mandatory safety class starts at 8:00 a.m. sharp. Late arrivals after 7:50 a.m. will not be admitted.
    • Refunds: There are no refunds nor are walk-ins accepted. If you cancel, we cannot transfer you to another clinic. Please ensure you can attend before you register and pay.

    What to Wear:

    • Comfortable tennis shoes (no open-toe shoes or flip-flops).
    • Long pants or jeans (Capris are acceptable, no shorts).
    • No low-cut or V-neck tops. (No tank tops allowed) 
    • A baseball hat or visor is recommended for sun protection and flying brass.

    • a minimum of three magazines or 5 speed loaders suitable for the handgun you will be using.

    The Summer 1 trap league runs every Wednesday from May 14th, 2025 through June 25th, 2025.


    There will be pre-shooting and makeup for this league.  First league squad out at 4:00 PM.  Practice available from 3:00 PM - 3:45 PM. 


    All shooters will be handicapped and assigned a team in week two. Teams will consist of five or six members depending on entries. Monetary awards go to side pot lucky draw winner and side pot high score each week. Team award goes to top scoring team at the end of the league.

     

    Only the top four scores will be counted for team standing with 80% of the difference between the week's high scoring team and each other team's score added to the teams scores the following week.


    The following fees will be applied to this league:

    Member league $60

    Member doubles $60 (optional event)

    Non-member league $80 + $20 daily gate fee required ($140 for the 7 weeks).

    Non-Member doubles $80 (optional event)

    The Safety Brief starts at 8:20AM and ends at 8:30AMIf you don’t attend the safety brief you will not be allowed to compete in the match.

    The match will run from 0830-whenever we are done!

    Objectives:

    To practice safe gun handling and have a good time doing it!

    To provide a safe venue for all shooters regardless of skill level.

    To create a friendly and safe venue for the use of a variety of commonly owned handguns suitable for general use or concealed carry.

    Procedures:

    • Stages are shot under the supervision of a Range Safety Officer (RSO).
    • Scores are posted on Practiscore.

     Who:

    • Members of the Lemon Grove Rod & Gun Club, their guests, and non-members.

     Where:

    • At the Lemon Grove Rod & Gun Club facilities located at:

    o 16232 Sequan Truck Trail, Alpine CA. 91901

    What to Bring:

    • Any handgun that fits a Division within the USPSA, IDPA, or ICORE rules. Handguns that do not fit in any specific category can still be used but will be classified as “Non-Compliant”.
    • Bring a holster suitable for the handgun you will be using that attaches at the belt level. Serpa type holsters are NOT recommended!
    • a minimum of three magazines or 5 speed loaders suitable for the handgun you will be using.
    • hearing protection (electronic is best).
    • eye protection.

    Fee:

    • Club Members shoot for free.
    • Non-members is $20.00.

    Safety Considerations:

    • Magnum ammunition is NOT allowed!
    • Lead bullets are preferred over jacketed bullets as the lead bullets reduce the likelihood of ricochets when using steel targets.

    Other Information:

    • ALL participants are expected to help in the conduct of the match by assisting with setup, tear-down, target taping, target resetting (for steel targets), and score keeping.
