Effective Use of Cover / Unorthodox Shooting Positions

Contact Dave Reed at davereed2010@gmail.com with any questions.

5 PM - 8:30 PM in the Pistol Pit

    $20 for members, $40 for non-members.

We will discuss the proper use of cover, and some things to look out for before shooting over, around, through and under various barricades using the firearm of your choice (pistol/rifle/shotgun).

You will need the firearm of your choice (pistol/rifle/shotgun) and approximately 150 rounds of ammunition, bring more if you have an itchy trigger finger. Please arrive with several magazines / speed loaders loaded. Leave one magazine completely empty so we can start off with a little dry fire for safety purposes.

We will be shooting from standing/kneeling/side prone/laying on back, if you have a shooting pad or large piece of cardboard you may want to bring that to use as a barrier between you and the ground.

In ear hearing protection (ear plugs) is recommended for some of the shooting positions.

Don’t wait until the last minute!

Be sure to get your NMA or Ten Percenter card signed off at an upcoming work party. We can really use your help to continue improving our range facilities—many hands truly make light work.

Lunch will be served after the work party at the clubhouse
Please RSVP so we can plan for food and workforce needs

Thank you for supporting the club!

NMA & Ten Percent Program Reminder

Per the club’s SOP, Regular and Senior members are required to complete a Non-Monetary Assessment (NMA) each fiscal year. This includes:

    • 8 hours of volunteer service, which can be met by:
      • Attending two work parties, OR
      • Attending one work party + volunteering at a club event

Members age 65+ may substitute by supporting three club events instead.

Our club is 100% volunteer-run—there are no paid staff—and your participation helps us maintain, improve, and operate while keeping membership costs low. The goal isn’t to create a burden, but to encourage shared responsibility and involvement.

If needed, members may choose to opt out of the NMA by paying a $150 exemption fee, now available at any time during the year.

    Ten Percent Program

The Ten Percent Program recognizes members who go above and beyond:

    • Complete 4 additional NMA activities (work parties or events)
    • Track participation using your green Ten Percent card (or have a Shoot Master verify)
    • Earn a special reward from the Board at the end of the fiscal year

    Cards Reminder:

    • Orange NMA cards and green Ten Percent cards are available in the sign-up shack if you need replacements. After your cards are complete, please email a copy to membership@lgrgc.com.

We appreciate everyone who steps up to support the Lemon Grove Rod & Gun Club—your time and effort make all the difference!

Personal Defense Decision Making Force on Force Scenarios - Test your decision making skills in realistic situations involving other students. 6 PM to 9 PM $20 for members, $40 for non-members.

Contact Dave Reed at davereed2010@gmail.com with any questions.

We will be using a combination of airsoft pistols and shot indication laser pistols, inert pepper spray, training medical supplies and other tools during decision making scenarios run against other students.

I will have protective masks available, but if you have your own airsoft/paintball mask you are welcome to use it. Loose fitting, long sleeved clothes and gloves are recommended to protect yourself against airsoft plastic pellets. They sting when they hit you and are dangerous to unprotected eyes.

DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS ABSOLUTELY NO SELF DEFENSE TOOLS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO KNIVES, GUNS, PEPPER SPRAY, TASERS, STUN GUNS, KUBATONS, ETC. ALLOWED IN THE VICINITY OF THE CLASS. YOU WILL BE PATTED DOWN BY A MINIMUM OF TWO PEOPLE PRIOR TO PARTICIPATION IN THIS CLASS

This is a serious class based on realistic real world scenarios, not a first person shooter game trying to see who can fire the fastest. The best outcome you can hope for is that you do not have to draw your training firearm.
